In the last few years, we have seen a lot.
From adopting a new lifestyle to leaving a few habits.
From going to the office regularly to working from home.
Form liking changes to hating everything.
From getting love to losing loved ones, everything……
But lesser do we know about our ‘Doctors’ and their struggles.
Although we don’t know each of them, we owe them.
Why do we celebrate doctor’s day?
1st July is the day dedicated to our beloved doctors. The day commemorates to honor the great physician and second chief minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He established the contemporary healthcare structure in India. The great man was born and died on the same day.
Why are doctors important?
Doctors have been a major part of our lives from the day we are born until we vanish. Needless to say, they play a key role in keeping us alive! They have been associated with us as advisors, good friends, mentors, and most importantly healers.
A typical day in a doctor’s life
When we asked several doctors – What’s your typical day? They only had one answer– ‘Overall, my day is very busy’- true indeed! Patient appointments are one small part of their job – but that small part impacts the lives of hundreds of us. They work round the clock. From hospitals to clinics then again to hospitals for surgery– the schedule is often jam-packed. At night they have to rush to the hospitals in case of emergencies.
Few even spoke about how difficult it is to get free time with kids. But, they pick themselves up every time because they understand their responsibilities and can’t see patients’ suffering.
Pandemic challenges
Since the coronavirus outbreak, doctors have not only experienced the gratification of healing patients and saving their lives but have also lost many battles along the way. On top of that, many doctors have even sacrificed their own lives in the line of duty. Because they are, they were and will be front-line warriors when it comes to their patient’s wellbeing.
There are many inspiring stories of doctors that have moved us from time to time, especially the pandemic stories. There were doctors and other health care professionals who succumbed to COVID-19 infection. I heard one story that typically moved me; it was when during the second wave most doctors used cars as their refuge so that they can treat patients as well as protect their families from getting infected. This shows the endless sacrifices they made.
Yoda suggests
You bestow the eye to see and treat each of our weaknesses. You take care of us, give medication, treat illness, advise us, and go to extremes to save our lives.
This year’s theme for National doctors’ day is “Family Doctors on the Front Line”, to honor our beloved doctor’s efforts. The tradition is to thank them by sending cards and flowers as a token of appreciation. So do your part!
Regardless to say your contributions to society are tangibly remarkable. Yoda diagnostics continues to acknowledge the numerous lives you saved, the time you gave to promote medical advances, and the energy you spent mastering the field of expertise.
